  • You remain exhausted all the time

If you feel tired and exhausted right from the start of the day till end of the night, it can be a case of thyroid disorder. This happens because the amount of thyroid hormone your body needs is not fulfilled by the thyroid gland and your muscles don’t get enough power to do the regular work.  Fatigue can be considered as the number one symptom of Thyroid disease.

  • You feel depressed

Felling depressed or sad without any reason is a common symptom of thyroid disease. The reason behind this that the serotonin hormone, which is responsible for feeling good is affected by the less amount of thyroid hormone in the body. Felling sad and tired at a same time is a clear sign of hypothyroidism.

  • You feel anxious and excited

This is a case of hyperthyroidism. When your thyroid gland starts secreting excess thyroid hormone, you will feel anxious and excited for almost anything. Your metabolism rate increases at a high speed and even a small thing can make you feel anxious. If you are feeling that you just can’t relax no matter what, you are probably suffering from thyroid disease.

  • Disturbed Appetite

If all of the sudden your appetite is increased and you are still not gaining weight, you need to contact a doctor as soon as possible. The reason behind it is that, in case of hyperthyroidism, you will feel hungry all the time and since this is because of thyroid hormone which offsets the caloric impact, you don’t even gain weight. Thyroid disease can also mess with your taste buds.

  • You start feeling fizzy

Cognitive Functioning gets affected a lot by thyroid disease. Be it a case of excessive thyroid hormone or less thyroid hormone, it can cause your brain to feel fizzy where it causes forgetfulness and general brain fog.

  • Dry Skin

Another good sign of thyroid disorder is dry and itchy skin. When our body starts secreting low thyroid hormone, it slows the metabolism thus reducing the sweating and finally resulting in change in skin texture. If your skin is getting dry and itchy with brittle nails, it is a sign of hypothyroidism.

  • Change in Menstrual Cycle

Another sign of thyroid disorder in females is longer menstrual period with heavier flow and cramps. It can become heavier, lighter and the cycle can get totally disturbed.

  • High Blood Pressure

Both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can cause elevated blood pressure. It can even lead to the risk of developing hypertension. The reason behind it is that low amount of thyroid hormone slows the heart beat rate which affects the pumping and blood vessel wall flexibility thus resulting a rise in blood pressure.

  • Change in Sleep Schedule

If you suddenly feel sleepy all the time, it could be a case of Hypothyroidism. If it is hyperthyroidism, then you won’t be able to sleep as excessive thyroid hormone causes anxiety and rapid pulse making it difficult for you to sleep.
