He stole a pass and forged some documents for taking a prisoner to work on a nearby farm. After that, they both walked out of the gate and ran continuously for 10 days. Jerzy somehow found his relative home where he left Cyla and went back to the prison. They didn’t meet for four decades and both of them believed that the other had died. Cyla married to someone else while Jerzy started a family with someone else. In 1983, Cyla told her story to a cleaner, who found the familiar words, saying that she saw a man telling the same story on television and the person is still alive. Cyla had somehow been able to find his phone number and when they met, Jerzy gave her 39 roses, one for each year since they’d last been together. After that, they became very good friends, and even on living on different continents, they met 15 more times before Cyla died in 2005.
