When it comes to talk about which life is better, people are divided in two parts. One who thinks that being single is better while the others claim that getting married is better. The very first thing which we want to clear is that we are not either in support or against towards both the lives. This post will be a fair debate and it will be you who will decide which one is better. Since a person remains single first and then gets married (in normal cases) so we would be first talking about being single.

Pros of Being Single:

  • Freedom and Space: There is no doubt that it is the biggest advantage of being single. You will have all the time. You don’t have to plan anything. You can do whatever you want to do and there is no one to answer. You can plan outing, trips, night outs and there is no need to explain why you are doing it. You can start working on a new hobby, you can switch your job, you can take your own decision without consulting anyone, you can eat anything anywhere and you don’t have anyone interfering with your personal life.
  • Better Focus on career: We are living in a world of rat race where everyone is trying to reach on the top as soon as possible. Being single will give you ample of time to think and work on your career. Your career remains the top priority for you. You can work during the day, you can work during night and you can even work on weekends. There are no distractions. You can relocate yourself according to your job. • More time to rest: Another advantage of being single is that you get more time to rest. After, a tiring day at work you can take complete rest at your home or in your car or wherever you want. There is no such need to talk to your wife, play with kids and discuss family issues or other important things so you get more time to rest.
  • Financial advantage: You don’t have to support anyone when you are single so you get an extra edge on your finance issues. You can easily enjoy the money you have or you can even save this money for future. Apart from that, you can also buy things like Car, House on EMIs as you can pay these EMIs easily. There is no burden to support the other half.
  • Better Social Life: Since, you are free and independent, you can talk to anyone, can be a friend with anyone and can go out with anyone. You can make more friends without being asked any single question. You can comment, like or share any pic without thinking.

Cons of Being Single:

  • Higher risk of heart diseases: You were not expecting this. Were you? Well, it may come as a shock to you but it was found in a recent study that single persons have 30 percent higher risk of early death or developing a heart disease as compared to married people. The reason behind is that being single makes you irresponsible toward your health and you starts ignoring symptoms.
  • Loneliness and lack of support: Another major disadvantage of being single is that you may start feeling lonely and in worse scenario, you may end up in depression. There is no one to support you or guide you. Sometimes you wish that there was someone with whom you could share your feelings or a person who always be there to help you.
  • Financial Problem: No, I am not contradicting with my points. Finance situation can be both advantageous as well as disadvantageous for single persons. It all depend on how much you earn. If you are earning low or if you are unemployed, being single can be really tough.
  • Society Issues: Well, staying single for lifetime or for a longer time is still considered as taboo in our society. Society thinks that the person is not good enough to have a partner or he/she has some bad habits due to which no one wants to marry him/her. Parents and relative pressure also act as a con for single people.

The debate of single vs married people can never be ended until we discuss the aspects of both the parts. Till now, we discussed the pros and cons of being single. Now, it’s time to hear from married people and know the pros and cons of being married.

Pros of Getting Married:

  • Support and love: The feeling that someone actually loves you and cares for you is the biggest advantage of getting married. There is always a person who will support you, a person who is there with you in your good and bad times, who is ready to do sacrifices for you, who left his/her family to live with you. The kind of support, love, care and happiness a married person get from his/her partner can never be compared with any other feelings.

  • Kids: Having kids is the happiest thing for a person. Pampering your own kids, giving gifts to them, behaving like a kid with them are few things which only a married person can achieve. The sole feeling of care towards kids is the major pro of getting married.
  • Better and safe sex life: Although a single person can also have sex but changing sex partners can lead to many STDs. Being married means a safe and better sex life. Sexual experimentation can also be done with your partner which is not possible in the case of being single.
  • Financial Support: If you are married there is no financial burden on you. Even if you lose your job, you don’t need to lose hope as your partner is still there to help and support you. There are many tax-saving schemes for married persons and it is a proven fact that a married person is more financially stable then single persons.
  • Better Health: A married remains healthier and fit as the other half always remind him/her to take care of the health. Even if the person is sick or ill, his/he partner helps him in quick recovery. Also as we mentioned above married persons have less chances of heart disease.

Cons of Getting Married:

  • No personal space and freedom: The biggest advantage of being single is the biggest disadvantage of getting married. A person lost his/her personal space and freedom when he gets married. Responsibilities of family, family planning, securing future for kids and for retirement just makes the person restricted. The freedom of doing anything is lost in marriage.
  • Less focus towards career: Since the person has to focus both on his family and his career, he is not able to devote as much time as a single person can. He has to divide his time between his career and his family and since his family is more important to him, he ends up losing attention on career.
  • Ego Clashes: One of the major disadvantage of getting married is ego clashes. Fights over small issues is a very common thing in marriage. Although, ego clashes differ from couple to couple but can be really devastating. A divorce period is a real tough condition to go through.

This was all about being single vs married. Now, it depends on the individual as which side of the coin he wants to be.
